Book Love Bar is a welcoming stop for readers who like to browse slowly, pick up something unexpected, and treat book shopping like an outing. It’s a good fit for solo resets, low-key friend meetups, and gift-hunting when you want something more thoughtful than a last-minute grab. The experience is about discovery and taking your time, with an environment that encourages you to explore across genres and interests. Owner Jessica Tharp shares, “Book Love Bar is an Independent Bookshop that opened in March 2025. We sell most genres, and all of our books are new. We also sell local artists’ crafts and candles, notebooks, calendars, puzzles, and more! We are working in phases toward receiving licensing for a full coffee and alcohol bar…I have a passion for reading and find solace in it. Reading a book can be an introverted or extroverted activity. My hope is that, like me, it brings out a little of both in everyone. We need community now more than ever, but we also need time to reset. I say, what better way to do that than relaxing with a good book? A cocktail or coffee wouldn’t hurt to have next to you, too. I do not know when our licensing will come, but I am so excited to combine my love of books and cocktails. We chose Ypsilanti for its wonderful community. It’s grit and beauty. This city vibrates and has so much to offer. We are proud to be in Ypsilanti and hope to continue serving this city for years to come.”
